Coming Soon...

the new collective aim to provide support and guidance to emerging artists. We provide a space and a platform for artists who need support in order to continue their practice after leaving the safe bubble of education. Everyday demands prevent young artists from continued engagement with their practice, with the necessity of having a steady source of income to pay for rent, bills, food and general living expenses. Amongst all this, there is little else left to fund artistic practice or to pay for a studio space to enable this means. We aim to give artists the opportunity to re-engage with their practice, to make work that is only possible when provided with a seperate studio space, away from the home, where many set-up temporary spaces to work in the spare bedroom or living room. We aim to give them exposure and promotion as artists, providing group critiques to hear from their peers and learn to develop their work as well as understand the strengths of their ideas.

Hello and welcome to the new collective's summer residency page. This section of our website serves to show the documentation of the 6 week residency at Philadelphia Street, Cabot Circus, Bristol. We also document via Tumblr, please see our artists blog page to see all the latest interviews and pictures.

Artist Residency

15 July - 7 September @ Philadelphia Street, Cabot Circus

Residency: 15 July - 26 August

Exhibition: 28 August - 7 September

We hope that the experience of the residency & exhibition will give them a better knowledge of how to continue working as artists, and the options that are out there for them. Leaving the experience, the artists will have a support network of others artists working and living in the same city, with the potential to apply for group exhibitions or seek shared studio spaces together. We believe that young, innovative artists can thrive in the freewheeling milieu that a big city offers, Bristol is diverse and supportive of its artistic culture, one that is ever expanding and gaining international recognition. We hope to continue to offer this opportunity to artists. This first major project was possible with the support and funding of O2 Think Big, however this is not a sustainable source of funding and we therefore aim to go on to apply for further funding which can enable us to make the new collective organisation a sustainable social enterprise.
